A group of Year 6 children from Bourne Westfield Primary Academy are awaiting the much anticipated arrival of an original animation from John Lewis’ Christmas campaign, The Bear and The Hare, after uploading their work onto the national store’s ‘Bringing Skills to Life’ website.

Whilst the last few weeks of the busy Christmas term got under way, the children studied figurative language and how this could be incorporated to create emotive poetry that also portrayed a story.

It was during “a moment of inspiration” that Year 6 teacher Mrs Charlton and Mr Kyle, decided to use the magical advert to spark the imagination of the children in their sets.

They commented: “We wanted something that would really allow the children to apply what they had learnt whilst using something fresh and new to inspire them. They should all be very proud of the work they created.”

Headteacher, Elaine Radley, explained: “I am extremely proud of the poetry produced by the pupils and their final effort, on the very last day of term, to ensure that it was written up and ready to be featured on the website.”
