The sea is an aquatic hydra

The trustees of The Willoughby Memorial Trust, who recently ran a competition with the ‘Lincolnshire Schools Poetry Competition 2013’, were delighted to inform Bourne Abbey pupil Kareish Rajkanna that he has received 2nd Prize.

The learning target of the poem was to write a descriptive poem, creating powerful and precise images.

The Hydra

The sea is an aquatic hydra

ferociously snapping up the golden sand grains.

It’s a monstrous sapphire beast

Waiting to pounce again.

Like a giant ultramarine shark’s fin,

It sweeps up anything in its path.

The sea is a deadly foe, it pretends to be calm

But it’s just waiting for its prey.

An unimaginable monster of nature...
