On Monday, March 3, the Year 5 pupils visited Faizan E Madina Mosque in Peterborough, as part of their Religious Education topic.
The children were greeted by the mosque’s school representative and one of four imams, who spoke to the children about the beliefs of the Islamic faith and gave them a tour around the different areas of the mosque.
It was, for some children, a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the Muslim faith first hand.
Many of the children were in awe of the beautiful chandelier which hung from the dome and the Arabic scripture which decorated the interior of the building. They were able to see and touch the parts of a mosque that we had learnt about in the classroom.
The children asked thoughtful and insightful questions about Muslim practices and were able to see and hear the call the prayer.
It was a wonderful experience for all adults and children involved and we thank the Faizan E Madina Mosque for being so warm and welcoming.
