Three Volleyball teams from Bourne Westfield competed for the very first time recently in the Lincolnshire South East Volleyball tournament at Spalding High School.

All performed extremely well with both the A and B teams winning their leagues in the morning and competing in a knock out competition in the afternoon. The B team were narrowly beaten in the quarter finals with the A team winning the competition comfortably and going on to compete in the county finals in April. Great work boys!

Year 6 girls competed in the U11 County Hockey finals in Lincoln. Having previously played an adapted form of the game ‘Quick Sticks’ in school, they played in a 7 a side tournament which included the goalie wearing the full protective kit.

The girls acquitted themselves extremely well, becoming more confident as the tournament progressed. They finished the day a very happy and creditable equal third place. Well done girls!

On Friday 14th March Bourne Westfield Year 5 and 6 Girls and Boys represented South East Lincolnshire in the County Sports Hall Athletics Championships, defending the title they won in 2013. After a very hard fought competition the children were valiant runners up to Cliffedale School in Grantham.

PE co-ordinator Richard Scott commented “Once again our children have raised the bar and have performed with great success, particularly in the two sports that they rarely compete in. They really do seem to go from strength to strength in whatever discipline they tackle and I am extremely proud of their achievements.”
