Children in Reception were really excited to learn about the story of Little Red Hen during their recent visit to Sacrewell Farm.

They loved the tractor ride where they found out about things that grow on the farm and everyone had a chance to feed the newborn lambs.

The children were thrilled to find that Little Red Hen had left ten of her eggs for them to look after at school!

Imagination ran wild as they wondered ‘What will hatch out?’

‘How long will it take?’ ‘Who will look after them?’.

The children didn’t have too long to wait as after only 24 hours four eggs started to crack!

On Wednesday morning children were so excited to find 8 baby chicks had hatched overnight, with two more pecking their way out!

Head of EYFS Jo McCullough commented “This has been such a wonderful learning experience for the children and to see the chicks hatching really is the icing on the cake”.
