Year 6 children have been travelling back in time in Literacy lessons to 1900 in an attempt to solve the mystery of the disappearance of the lighthouse keepers on Flannan Isle. After rowing down the corridor to the remote island, the children were faced with a shocking crime scene and three missing men.
Deputy Headteacher, Kate Atkinson commented: “It’s these kinds of lessons the children remember. The awe and wonder of the crime scene ignited a passion for learning in Literacy this week.”
Austin Crowson said: “It was a bit freaky in places because we didn’t know what had happened or who had done it. The lesson was amazing!”
The children will be writing letters, poems, stories and newspaper reports during this exciting topic in an attempt to solve the age old mystery – What did happen to the lighthouse keepers of Flannan Isle? Good luck Year 6!
