Bourne Westifled pupils have a go at computer coding

Bourne Westfield Primary Academy took part in the national ‘Hour of Code’ initiative. The recent developments in the primary curriculum encourage all schools to teach computer programming.

At Bourne Westfield Primary Academy this is already an integral part of their Computing curriculum.

Reception teacher, Miss Pickering commented, “We had great fun exploring the Angry Birds coding game and I was really impressed with how enthusiastic the children were using the new iPads!”

All of the exciting games and resources can be found in the ‘Pupil Zone’ on the school website at www.bournewestflied.lincs.sch.uk.

The resources offer self-directed tutorials starring video lectures by Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and of course - Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies!

Mrs Green, Year 2 leader added, “Our Year 2 pupils learnt repeat-loops, conditionals, and basic algorithms. The computer-programmers of the future are at Westfield, they have a real talent!”
