Bourne Abbey C of E Primary Academy has raised a record breaking amount of money over the past two weeks thanks to the generosity of friends and families. It began with an amazing Friday for Children in Need, everyone dressed as their hero for the day. This together with a sponsored dance and a Great Bourne Abbey Bake Off resulted in a grand total of £1,863 (double previous efforts).

School Council were very concerned about the children in the Philippines following the terrible typhoon and asked permission to hold a non-uniform day the following Friday. The response was overwhelming and an amazing £970 was raised.

Nearly £500 of this amount came from the sale of raffle tickets. Special thanks go to Mr Nick Shepherd (Peterborough United) who donated a family ticket for the game against Wolves; Mr Chris Inman (teacher) who donated his first electric guitar and Mrs Karen Smith (teacher) who agreed to draw a portrait from a family photograph.

Mrs Cherry Edwards, head teacher commented “It is wonderful that our children want to make that difference for others both within our country and beyond. This gives them an awareness of our Global Community and helps them, whilst supporting the needs of others, to appreciate how fortunate they themselves are.“
