Our School Archive is an ongoing project which started in 2012 and since then, our ICT Manager, Mrs Rice, has been working hard to build up a collection of documents, photographs and other objects which tie into the School’s long history. Our assorted works include school registers and log books from 1877 and numerous articles, programmes and press cuttings. The collection provides an extremely valuable resource for answering enquiries, collating informative displays and for researchers seeking historical source materials.
The archives provide an invaluable and meaningful resource, bringing history to life for Bourne Abbey Academy’s Year 5 and 6 pupils studying the Victorians and World War 2 evacuees.
Much of the school’s archive documents are scanned or transcribed and are on the Bourne Abbey C of E Academy website: www.bourneabbey.lincs.sch.uk (Use the links ‘About Us’ and ‘History’)
If you are interested in finding out more about the archives please go to our website where you will find articles, photographs and transcripts of school registers which may interest genealogists in the Bourne community.
Our school collects resources for our extensive archive and we would be pleased to receive any contribution for our collection from past pupils. We can scan photographs and documents which may then, with permission, be used on our school website for the school and wider community.
In keeping with Data Protection legislation, we have to impose access restrictions. Particular documents and data are ‘closed’ to the general public for specific lengths of time as indicated on our website.
