Youngsters at a school in Oakham donned their wellies for an adventure day with a special guest.
To start the new academic year, pupils and staff at Brooke Priory were joined by Rutland Water reserve manager Tim Appleton for a variety of fun group activities around the village of Brooke.
The fun included den building, scavenger hunts and bird spotting to encourage team building within the children.
Tim brought along a box of binoculars and taught pupils and staff about the birds they spotted.
Headteacher Elizabeth Bell said: “It was a joy to watch the children working together, enjoying the freedom of the open fields and relishing the challenges they had been given.
“We all enjoyed an outdoor lunch of jacket potatoes and went home very tired after a wonderful day.”
