Trading standards warning to Lincolnshire residents

FRAUDSTERS are trying to con people out of money by pretending to be from national government bodies, according to a watchdog.

Lincolnshire Trading Standards has received lots of complaints from people who have been contacted by phoney officials from the Ministry of Justice and the Office of Fair Trading.

The people have been contacted by phone and told that they are owed large amounts of money by the government.

To release the funds, the unsuspecting victim is asked to carry out some instructions, usually involving paying an up-front fee.

For advice on an issue like this you can contact Lincolnshire Trading Standards on 01522 782341 or e-mail tradingstandards@lincolnshire.gov.uk.
