An eight-year-old police “superfan” got a special treat last month when he was paid a visit by members of his local force.

Acting inspector Leanne Carr and PCSO Raechell Last, of Lincolnshire Police, surprised young Thomas Genovese at his home in Market Deeping.

Thomas is a huge fan of the police and has attended all the force’s summer engagement events over the past two years – fully kitted out in his own uniform, including sergeant’s stripes.

He entered a competition and won the chance to appear on a special personalised version of the 2016 Lincolnshire Police video, The Chief’s Vision. And as an extra surprise, two members of the Market Deeping team kindly offered to deliver the DVD personally.

While visiting Thomas the officers were able to see his fully equipped “Sergeant’s officer bedroom”, and even his own cell in the cupboard at the top of the stairs.

Thomas’s mum Sharon said the DVD had been “watched, watched, watched, watched and watched again”.

“He is one happy little boy/sergeant, as you will probably see from the photos the officers took when he opened it. Hopefully Father Christmas will be forgiven for not getting him a proper Taser now!”

PCSO Last said: “Sgt Thomas has been visiting PCSO Laughton and I at the police station for the past two years, he even leaves us the occasional parking ticket on our own cars.

“We loved the fact we could help make his Christmas extra special.”

The video will be available for everybody else to see early in 2016.
