Staff at a pharmacy have help-ed a volunteer emergency doctors scheme.
Staff at the Day Lewis Pharmacy in High Street, Oakham, last week handed over a cheque for £814 to the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme, known as Emics.
The money raised is the result of raffles held and donations made at the pharmacy that Kirit Patel MBE owner and chairman of the Day Lewis Group matched.
The money was handed over to Dr Tim Gray who is the chairman and fund raising officer for Emics.
Angie Kingham, from Day Lewis Pharmacy, said: “We were very happy with the amount of money we managed to raise. This was all due to the generosity to our lovely customers and patients who came into our pharmacy at Day Lewis.
“The staff would like to say a huge thank you to them all.”
Emics currently has 26 active doctors across the East Midlands and responded to more than 1,500 serious emergency calls last year at the request of East Midlands Ambulance Service on a voluntary basis.
This donation is another significant donation towards a £50,000 fundraising campaign by Emics that started this year.
This funding is needed to meet the cost of updating the technical equipment carried by its emergency doctors including a number of new recruits who are expected to become qualified to meet the exacting standards of the charity during the year.
