Horse riders are being given the unique opportunity to ride through the grounds of Burghley - and at the same time raise funds for a vital charity.

Medical Detection Dogs is hosting its Canter for a Cure charity ride, supported by Royal Canin, at the Burghley Estate on Sunday, July 17.

The event has already been a huge success in the Milton Keynes area in previous years but now organisers are hoping horse riders will want to take advantage of riding in the prestigious Burghley Estate, home to the world famous Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The event is not a race so riders will have the chance to make the most of the stunning surroundings en-route.

The six-mile ride will start at 10am from the Queen Elizabeth Avenue archway which is north of Burghley House.

Riders will go through both the public and private areas of the estate including scenic wooded tracks, open countryside and, on occasion, ride parallel to the Burghley Horse Trials course.

If it’s a success, organisers hope to make it an annual event and expand the course.

Although the event is some time away, places are limited and interested people are urged to register today by visiting https://www.medicaldetectiondogs.org.uk/canter-for-a-cure-burghley/

The cost of entry is £20, with a minimum sponsorship of £25.

Proceeds from the event will go towards Medical Detection Dogs work of training specialist dogs to detect odours related to human diseases, including cancer.
