A father of four from Bourne has started an online petition to try and clean up the issue of dog fouling in the local community.

Lee Clark, 39, who lives in Bourne has already had more than 200 people sign the online petition that he created only a few weeks ago, to help raise awareness of the “ongoing issue” in the town.

He said: “It has got to the point where I need to make a stand. I want to help raise awareness of the problem and make sure that it is recognised. The petition is a way for people to vent their frustration and identify problem areas within Bourne.”

The petition on change.org is proposing a public meeting with South Kesteven District Council to discuss the following actions; identifying problem areas around Bourne and cleaning them up, dog fouling notices and warnings on penalties to be clearly displayed in each of the problem areas, more dog bins to be introduced and consideration given to a separate “dog walkers only” area on the recreation ground.

Two of Lee’s sons aged 12 and 13, who regularly train on the recreation ground for Bourne Town Juniors football club, have both experienced the issue of dog fouling first hand whilst playing football.

Lee said: “There is always dog mess on the pitch, one of my boys once slipped in it whilst playing football. It’s disgusting.

“I’m not saying that all dog walkers don’t clear up after their dogs, but there are certain people who don’t and it ruins the facilities at the recreational park.”
