A man who sent out 27 extra parcels to troops serving in Afghanistan is reminding people he collects all year.

Pat Graham, 75, of Rowan Way, Bourne, appealed for donations for his parcels for the troops campaign in The Local and said he was “staggered by the response”.

As a result of people’s generosity, he was able to send out 27 more parcels than normal over Christmas. He usually sends between eight and 10 every fortnight.

Pat said: “A lot of people think I just do it over Christmas but I want to tell them that I send out parcels every two weeks.

“They are appreciated by the troops, not just at Christmas but all year round.

“I had an extremely good response over Christmas and I was overwhelmed.”

Donations of food items, toiletries and table games can be dropped off at Pat’s home at 8 Rowan Way; at the Spice of Life shop in Burghley Street; or at Sam’s shop in Abbey Road.
