A VILLAGE fun day attracted children and adults to Brudenell Playing Field in Baston on Sunday.
The annual event was held to raise awareness and boost funds for the playing fields, while also marking the opening of the ground's tennis courts for spring and summer.

Running activities and games of tennis were organised, a bouncy castle offered fun for youngsters and stalls provided refreshments and bric-a-brac.

Organisers believe about £900 was raised to help a £30,000 bid to install a multi-use games facility at the playing fields which would include an all-weather surface outlet for a variety of sports, such as cricket and basketball.

Trevor Gibson, chairman of B-Active, which oversees the playing fields, said: "We had a good turnout and it's great to have something which brings the village together. It is a real community event which has families in mind."
