BETWEEN 50 and 200 homes and businesses in Bourne suffered a power cut today.
Places affected include West Street, South Street, Market Place, Abbey Road and Hereward Street.

Power went off at about 10.30am and it is hoped it will be fully-restored by 4pm this afternoon.

A Central Networks spokesman said it was taking longer than expected to sort out.

He said: "We were doing some planned work and put those people and businesses, who would have gone off when we switched the circuit off, on to a different circuit to keep them on but power demand was higher than we believed it would be and so everyone lost power.

"Since then, it's been a question of working out how we can switch those customers onto other circuits without having the same issue again.

"So far we have partially restored Abbey Road and Hereward Street."
