A VILLAGE primary school's hard work has paid off after it received an impressive Ofsted report.
Morton Primary School's overall rating was good with pupils' personal development and well-being and the effectiveness of the foundation stage both graded as outstanding.

Inspectors found that pupils made good progress and reach above average standards, they are very happy and well-behaved and staff care for pupils and support them to do their best.

Headteacher Gordon Kind said: "This excellent report clearly shows the dedicated work that all the pupils, teachers, teaching assistants and governors have put in.

"We are very pleased that the progress the children make academically and socially has been recognised.

"The positive support of parents has been a great encouragement to the school's community.

"This report is the result of a real team effort."

Joan Plant, chairman of the governors, said: "This is a fantastic report which acknowledges that the school has improved a great deal since it was last inspected in 2002.

"We are very proud that the hard work by the children, staff, parents and governors has been recognised. It is good to have external confirmation of the great work that we know is happening in our strong school community which produces happy, confident children."
