Here we have a view of the newly-completed council houses on Eslaforde Gardens in town that were taken by Standard photographer Gordon Brotherton back in 1965.
You can see workers’ vans parked outside as painters do finishing touches. Outwardly this view may not have changed much apart from the trees getting taller, the metal window framed being replaced, enclosed porches being built on each property and parking bays being laid on the open space.
Inside, they have probably changed drastically, with moderrn kitchens, flooring and furniture. But were you one of the first wave of occupants in these homes? What are your memories of them and do you still live there? Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01529 415981.
