Special Lotus anniversaries will feature at this year’s classic car and bike show

PLANS are steaming ahead for this year’s classic car and bike show in Bourne.

Bourne Motor Racing Club’s committee has already started planning the event which will take place on The Wellhead on Sunday, June 10.

Invitations have been sent out to last year’s entrants and the early response is looking good according to committee member Richard Bostock. He said they are also concentrating on attracting new exhibitors to the show.

Mr Bostock, of Laburnum Close, Bourne, said: “Once again there are plans to entertain the whole family, with plenty of craft stalls, the return of the Wississippi Jazz Band, Punch and Judy for the youngsters and a wide range of refreshments.

“The club is also working on the centre piece of the show, which will be the iconic English car maker Lotus. “This tribute comes at an important time in Lotus’ history, as in 2012, the marque will celebrate several anniversaries, including 50 years of the Elan Sportscar, the 40th anniversary of the Esprit Supercar concept and the 35th anniversary of the first competitive outing of the 78 ground effect Lotus F1 car.”

This year, entrants are invited with cars and motorcycles registered in 1992 or earlier, and race cars of any age.

The show will close with the judging of vehicles and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast.

For more information call Mr Bostock on 0776017145 in the evening.
