DEEPING Gang Show opens at The Deepings School on Wednesday at 7.15pm.

More than 60 members of the Brownies, Scouts, Guides, Explorers, Young Leaders and Leaders from the Deepings, Thurlby, Bourne and Stamford areas will take to the stage at The Deepings School for a show that will celebrate the 2012 London Olympics and the Queen’s diamond jubilee. This year is also the 80th anniversary of the first ever Gang Show which took place in London and was produced by the late Ralph Reader CBE. A medley of songs written by Ralph will be performed and conclude with the Gang Show anthem, Crest of a Wave.

Publicity manager Steve Canham said: “People can expect to enjoy a wide range of items including musical numbers from West End shows and even some Buddy Holly.”

The cast of the show includes 65 cubs, brownies, scouts, guides, explorers, young leaders and leaders from the Deepings, Bourne and Stamford areas.

The Deeping Gang Show, which first started in 1986, was given national recognition in 1992 by the Scout Association, an honour which only goes to the best performances across the country. This was reassessed in 2003 and the show received the recognition again.

The show will run until Saturday next week and tickets are £7.50 (adults) and £5 (children) for Wednesday evening and Thursday evening. Tickets for Friday evening and Saturday evening are priced at £8 (no concessions) from box office manager Liz Harrison by calling 01778 343443. The Saturday matinee has already sold out.
