Celebration of steam era
NENE Valley Railway is holding a celebration of the end of an era on September 12 and 13 to commemorate the end of steam and the birth of diesel traction.
This special weekend will celebrate this part of railway history and includes diesel locomotives, steam locomotives, freight trains, a display of 1960s road vehicles, a Mark 1 carriage set and the Wansford Station Cafe will be selling 1968 fayre including stew and filled Yorkshire Puddings.
On Saturday, September 26, Nene Valley Railway will be holding a 1940s weekend with entertainment from the United Kingdom's premier 1940 Blitz Show featuring Tallulah Rae, Tim Dunn, The Matthews Sisters – an Andrew's Sisters tribute act, DJ Tail End Charlie plus Air sequence, 1940s newsreel and a musical tribute to Glenn Miller on the big screen.
