TWO young ice skaters are set to perform in front of thousands of spectators next week on the opening night of a brand new show.

Evie Martin-Cuthbertson, seven, of Holloway Avenue, Bourne, and Eleanor Waldock, nine, of Elizabeth Way, Thurlby, will be taking to the ice on Thursday as part of Holiday on Ice’s Tropicana - the Passion Tour at the Exec, the East of England Showground, near Peterborough.

The pair were given the chance to perform their own choreographed routine on the show after winning the Ice Factor competition in Peterborough in November.

Evie’s mother Kelly said: “We are very excited and very proud of her. This will be the biggest thing she has ever taken part in. It really is the ultimate and we can’t believe it.”

Evie, a pupil at Bourne Westfield Primary Academy in Westbourne Park, has been skating since the age of four and is a member of Peterborough-based club Golden Blades.

Kelly added: “Evie is very excited but I don’t think she realises how big it is.

“She’s been practising at the rink this week and working on her routines with her trainer who’s been fantastic.

“She’s got her family and lots of friends going to watch her. It’s going to be lovely.”

The pair will be among 40 professional skaters who will be showing off their skills in front of thousands of spectators.

Eleanor’s mother Sara said: “Eleanor’s very excited and I’m very nervous on her behalf. I think the girl’s are unaware of the scale of the event.

“It’s just all very exciting for us and it’s going to be wonderful.”

The show kicks-off with a charity gala night on Thursday, which is being held in aid of Stamford-based children’s cancer charity Anna’s Hope. Proceeds raised will be donated to the charity and bucket collections will also be held.

Tropicana - The Passion Tour is being held at the Exec Peterborough from February 2 to 5. Tickets prices range from £12 to £35. For more information, call the box office on 0844 581 1315 or visit www.holidayonice.co.uk
