I have always been most reluctant to respond to the wilder opinions expressed in The Local letters page.
However, the comments of Steve Jackson, of Thurlby, last week apparently holding the good residents of Elsea Park responsible for all the ails that befall Bourne and in particular the damage being per on Abbey Lawns was a slur too far.

Why any section of the well balanced population of Bourne should be singled out in this manner frankly beggars belief and warrants a rebalancing between freedom of expression and editorial control.

There is no evidence to suggest that young people of Elsea Park are responsible for any antisocial behaviour and we are certain that residents of Elsea Park make a valuable contribution to the Bourne community.

Bob Russell,
Elsea Park resident and
chairman Elsea Park Trust
