Region's biggest country show celebrates 40 years

ONE of the region's biggest country shows, The East of England Show, will celebrating its 40th anniversary at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, on June 13, 14 and 15.
The three festivals of country life are organised by the East of England Agricultural Society and will embrace farming communities with Farming Friday, which will be the main livestock show day and entries are flooding in from the best of British liv
estock farmers and breeders.

There will be a full programme of equestrian classes, which will continue throughout the weekend including all breeds of horses, from Shetlands to Shires, and some great showjumping classes.

Friday is also the final of the Schools Food Challenge – one of the region's most hotly contested culinary competitions.

The Country Trail (open all weekend) will enable children to learn more about where their roast lunch comes from, while having great fun and
Saturday and Sunday will see all the usual fun of the fair with fabulous family entertainment.

Events in the main ring will include the Dancing Diggers (Diggerland JCB Stunt Team), the Royal Artillery Motorcycle Display Team and the Devil's Horsemen over Saturday and Sunday.

And should you feel peckish the food hall will feature celebrity chefs Lesley Waters and James Tanner, who will inspire you to cook some scrumptious dishes.

Evening concerts will have you dancing the night away to the Lounge Lizards on Friday and Boney M featuring Maizie Williams on Saturday.
There will be plenty of opportunity for retail therapy, with more than 400 retail stands to choose from, including the Lifestyle Zone, craft fairs and Food Hall.

Friday: Admission is free

Saturday and Sunday: Advance tickets cost £23 for family tickets (two adults and two children), £11 for adults, £9 for senior citizens (65+) and £5 for children (5-16 years) by calling 0845 450 6425 or via www.showground.org.uk On the gate Saturday and Sunday ticket prices
are: Family £28, adult £14, senior £11 and children £6.50.
The showground opens from 8am to 6pm each day and car parking is free.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
