A CHEQUE for £100 was given to Bourne’s Alternatives Pregnancy Advice Centre by Sainsbury’s.
Bourne store manager Karl Cunningham and Sainsbury’s PR Ambassador Jenny Allan presented the money to Alternatives’ manager Lorrae Speirs and adviser Gill Arnold at the Butterfield Centre. The cash came from Sainsbury’s community grant scheme which uses funds raised by selling Bags For Life to customers.
The money will help towards the running costs of Alternatives which helps people facing an unplanned pregnancy in the Bourne, Market Deeping, Spalding, Corby Glen and Billingborough area.
Mr Cunningham said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about Alternatives, we were really pleased to be able to help out.”
Last year the scheme donated £135,000 to charitable groups. Sainsbury’s also support Comic Relief and Sport Relief, runs an Active Kids scheme.
