Plan for fuel station in Bourne finally submitted
PLANS for a much-needed second petrol station in Bourne have moved a step closer.
Lindum Group, which co-owns the South Road site in Bourne, submitted an outline planning application to South Kesteven District Council for a petrol station on Friday last week.
Development surveyor for Lindum Group Peter Harvey is pleased with the progress.
He said: “We are very pleased to be able to submit an outline planning application for a petrol station on the site, following closely behind the family pub/ restaurant application we submitted jointly with Marston’s in November.
“We are keen to bring the site forward and deliver this much needed facility.
In December, Mr Harvey said the firm was in talks with four interested companies which were interested in helping to deliver the plan.
He said: “We remain in dialogue with the four interested parties and will continue to push for a firm commitment from one of them throughout the planning process as we are committed to delivering the new petrol station as soon as possible.”
Lindum Group, based in North Hykeham, and Lincoln-based Castle Square Developments bought the 4.2 acre site in February for £500,000 to build the proposed petrol station.
The group is working with pub chain Marston’s to build a pub restaurant on the site too.
Marston’s has already submitted its planning application to the district council for the restaurant, which would create up to 50 jobs.
It has also applied for permission to build one three-bedroom house on the site.
Lindum Group had originally hoped to get the plans in for the petrol station before Christmas.
Currently there is only an Esso garage in North Street, Bourne, for motorists to refuel.
