THE irrepressible Judy Theobald was the speaker at the February meeting of Deeping St James WI. She spoke of her life as a journalist and her meetings with famous people such as Peggy Mount and Colin Dexter.
She also spoke of amusing incidents at her daughter's wedding, and a visit to the circus and Whipsnade Zoo.

Judy, who now works for Radio Lincolnshire, is interested in writing her own version of a Mills and Boon book and members were amused to hear an excerpt from it. She also read some of the poems she had written including one about the WI.

The competition for a Romantic Menu was won by Pearl O'Brien. The Bourne Home Economics Meeting will take place at Bourne Corn Exchange on March 30 at 7.30pm, when Christopher Lewis, from the Antiques Roadshow, will be the guest speaker. Tickets cost £2 for members and £3 for visitors.

The next meeting will be the annual meeting on March 26 at 7.30pm. The competition will be for a decorated biscuit.
